Believe in People exists to support the development of individuals and families to ensureĀ  decision-making and control remain as close to the person with a disability as possible.

Believe in People promotes the One Person at a Time framework.

One person at a Time includes:

  • Meeting the person “where they are at”
  • Knowing the person (Gifts, Abilities, Interests, Needs & Strengths – GAINS)
  • Keeping decision-making close to the person
  • Visioning
  • Planning – intentionally, strategically, thoroughly and thoughtfully
  • Promoting high expectations

Believe in People aims to provide information and practical assistance; training and encouragement; inspiration and guidance for:

  • people with a disability, their families and allies,
  • workers and services
  • the wider community.

Believe in People aims to provide opportunities to share ideas and to work creatively and collaboratively in the best interests of the person seeking assistance.
